Combine first three items in pan on stove heat until you are able to blend well. Remove (do not boil), add oats, mix well. Mixture will be stiff. If seems runny, add extra oats a little at a time until stiff. Drop by spoonfuls on cookie sheet, let sit until firm.
I learned how to make them with peanut butter and either chocolate. This is the first time I have heard of them made with corn syrup.

The peanut butter is really needed in this recipe because of the oil. I can see that chocolate wouldn't work out very well. I used to make these in Camp Fire and they were always yummy.

I did not have PB so I subbed semi dark chocolate. Not sure if I did anything wrong but this was like chewing on raw oatmeal. Definitely a waste of some ingredients along with one VERY messy pan. Cured my sweet cravings anyway :)
