Here's my tip: When I put the perches back in the cage, I always like to rest them on the same wire on each end so the perches are spaced evenly from each side of the cage. I decided to paint the wire with White Out so I knew which one to put the perch on instead of having to count the wires each time.
Now they are exactly and evenly spaced from the one end to the other end and on both sides of the cage. You could use nail polish too.

Please do no use white-out on your bird cages; one little nibble and your bird would be poisoned. White-out is very toxic. Mark your bars with a little colored string of yarn or something, it will give the bird something to play with as well. Best wishes.
Every day I take the mess out the same as I do the cat's litter box. I have a plastic spoon and my kitchen garbage can. I just pull the bottom out so I can get everything and voila, clean cage. Of course every few weeks I scrub the whole thing but this keeps it looking nice and it's clean. The perches I pull out and wash. I count bars as I have a Conure and she would pick at the white out. The bristle brush is super!

If it needs more cleaning than that: Go to a dollar store and buy a shower curtain. You have two options.
Option #1 Let the poop dry for two days and use your finger nail to pop it right off. It comes off in a whole piece. No mess.
Option #2 Go to a dollar store and buy wash cloths just for this purpose. Wet the wash cloth with hot water and it just washes off. This method can be used if it is dried or not.
Use the hose of the vacuum to pick up all the seeds and food. Do this with option #1 and #2.

I know that you are probably talking mostly about bigger bird cages if you're pressure washing them. If I pressure washed my cages, it would blow them away (03/29/2008)
