Chicken With Butter

A dish that can be made for dinner that's tasty. It can be served with rice and roti or puri.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg chicken breast or strips (approx. 2 lb.)
  • 1 cup fresh cream
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tsp. masala
  • 2 red chili
  • 1/2 tsp. tumeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp. jeera* powder
  • 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
  • 125 gram tomato puree (approx. 1/2 cup)
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. garlic
  • 1 tsp. fine salt
  • 125 gram butter (approx. 1/2 cup)
*Jeera powder is better known as cumin in the U.S.

Directions:

Remove skin from chicken. Rinse the chicken. Cube or use the breast whole. Marinate all the ingredients except the butter. Cover and leave aside for 20-30 minutes or prepare in advance and leave in the fridge until you are ready to cook.

Heat butter in a heavy based pan, add chicken and cook for +/- 30 minutes or until done. Serve with rice, roti, puri, garlic rolls or roasted veggies.
