Removing Mold From Books

I have many books that have have been on shelves in a room that has significant mold contamination. How can I remove any mold contamination of the books.

I moved from Oregon to Arizona, brought my whole box of really old collectible books 1800's 1900's, did not know how to restore them and trashed them. What a bummer, they had mildew.

Wipe the mold off with a damp cloth and then spray with Lysol. Set the books in the sun for a few hours then air them in a cool dry place. This has happened to me and it works very well.

I am a librarian. If there is mold in a book we immediately remove it from the collection and dispose of the book. Mold can spread to other books and papers. (03/27/2010)
