How about chocolate medallions on ribbons for each guest or placesetting, and fun trophies for the attendees to use as centerpieces. Many high schools, colleges have awards given at proms - like "most likely to succeed", etc. This way, the awards look Olympic and kill 2 birds with one stone. Opening ceremony highlights can be shown on a projector behind the dance floor, adding to the theme.
