Peanut (Dachshund/Chihuahua)

Peanut, also known as Mr. Peanut, is 11 years young and a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. I adopted Peanut one year ago from the St Louis Senior Dog Project (www.stlseniordogproject.typepad.com).

Peanut likes to sleep, chase squirrels with his adopted brother (a year old Chihuahua/Poodle mix named Charlie).

I am so proud of the amazing progress Peanut has made in just a year, from a shy shivering heap to a sweet "puppy like" lap dog. He has inspired me to help other senior dogs get the second chance they deserve. There is no senior rescue specific to my area, so I recently founded the Middle Tennessee Senior Dog Project. We are currently applying for non-profit status.

Peanut has such a sweet little face with darling eyes. What a blessing he has you. May your life be blessed and your rescue for Sr. dogs be granted it's non profit status. The world needs more people like you!

What a darling. Here is our little mountain feist/weenie dog/chihuahua. We named her banjo and she was adopted about 5 years ago. She is like my shadow and never ever leaves my side. Give yours a hug from ours. Racer

Cute Picture. We have rescued dogs over the years. Presently have 8. Thank you for what you have done. Peanut looks like a sweet dog. I'm sure you love him so much. Give him a hug from Susie and Bob from Bay Minette, Alabama.

Peanut is darling! Bless you for helping senior dogs. My Maggie (Pom and Chihuahua) is probably 17, as near as anyone can figure out. I adopted her from a shelter seven years ago, where she was turned in with two puppies and no information. I think we were meant to find each other.

Thanks so much for doing this. I have adopted older declawed cats (one at a time) for a few years now, they all have had health problems, I've had 4 including the current "baby". Older, especially diabetic cats, are sentenced to death only because they are sick and often are just turned out of their homes. I know that dogs are the same. He's cute. Enjoy your life together.

My 9 yr. old chihuahua mix shivers when it's going to rain, storm, lightning or just because. He climbs in the bathtub and has already slept in there during a storm. So maybe there's still hope for him.

Peanut is a charmer and lucky for you.
