1993 Ranger Heater Not Working

My 1993 Ranger won't heat up. I've put in 3 different thermometers, drained and flushed the radiator, new heater core, new temperature sending unit and still no heat. The temperature gauge won't rise above the "C" and the heater blows cold air. Any suggestions?

Most vehicles have some sort of valve in the heater hose to allow water to pass through the heater core , it can be not working. Then there is the mixing door for the heater and AC. It could be stuck in the AC position (either works by vacuum or electric). It also could be the controls in the dash.

I have a 93 Ranger and the blower motor is working, but the heat is not. What could be the problem?

1993 Ranger Heater Not Working

Sounds like your heater core is clogged. The hot water from your engine goes through a hose into your heater core which spreads out the water through a vent like area. The blower motor blows through the heater core and blows the heat off the vent area into your vehicle.

Usually when one goes bad it leaks water into the vehicle, but it could just clog. Better explanation: a heater core is exactly like a miniature radiator. It could collect rust or other debris and clog. It wouldn't do anything to the vehicle other than prevent it from having heat or make the floor wet.

Go by an Advanced Auto and explain your problem and see if they don't give you the same answer just worded different. (11/27/2009)

Having one possible cause mentioned already "heater core is clogged" or two: the hose to the heater could be stopped up. Or third possible cause: If the engine isn't heating up, it won't provide heat to the heater. Remedy is to get a new thermostat. (11/27/2009)
