In my garden, it started out with one zucchini plant, but now I have about 4 zucchini and squash plants that the leaves are turning yellow and my squash are rotting and covered with something that looks like fuzzy looking mold. It isn't caused by too much rain, we haven't had that much. I have also found very small eggs on the top of some leaves, and bugs that look like stink bugs. I have sprayed them with a spray for vegetables, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Does anyone have a solution for this before I lose all my plants. Thanks

My squash are rotting when tiny, I haven't harvested one yet, but have no problem with slugs due to coffee grounds. Instant doesn't work you need the real thing.

Try putting hay up under them to keep them from touching the ground let them touch the hay.

Squash can also be subject to BER (blossom end rot) as well as incomplete pollination problems. BER has classic symptoms of initial rot only on the blossom end of the fruit that helps distinguish it from lack of pollination. But if pollination appears to be the cause then trying some hand pollination of the blooms will surely help. Squash vine borers are another chronic problem that you might want to do some research on. They attack the plant itself, not the fruit.

Hey, thanks for all your help. We have been wetter than normal, but not wet enough to be a moisture problem, just wet enough not to have to water! Nothing seems to be water logged anyway. I have looked high and low for signs of that squash vine borer to no avail, nothing I can find, anyway. I have seen a couple of slugs, but really the only pest problem I have is those &^%^#(^ Japanese beetles. I was wondering if the grubs or the adults could be doing anything?
I am happy to report that while I am still finding fruits that are rotted, I have one that is about a foot long, and maybe six inches in diameter, so hopefully that one will make it! It's kind of funny- It is along the edge of the corn, and I have just been stepping over that patch, and didn't even notice it growing until I bumped into it literally! The zucchini are off and on- they had been rotting, also from the flower end first, but I harvested two ten-inchers this weekend. Found another wilting today, though. :( Any other suggestions, let me know!

I've been having the same problem. I think it is the soil...too wet. We have had a lot of rain. I've asked some "old-timers" and that is the consensus. I do have a lot of slugs from the added moisture which I have been picking and salting to kill them. Also, I have just put out a barrier of eggshells around the entire garden, and hope to see the slug population dwindle. I plan to put out some beer in plates tonight to catch some I've missed, my mother used to swear by that method.
Do your squash plants' rot at the tip where the flower is? That's where my problem is.

If the fruit is forming as far along as you say, then the pollination got done. When no fruit even starts, that's pollination problems.

If it is just the squash that is not developing, that is more likely a pollination problem so breakout the paintbrush.
If the whole plant is wilting in dying even though you're watering it enough, you may have squash vine borers.

If I'm not mistaken, if you look on the underside of a leaf there will be yellow eggs attached. There is a bug -to me it looked like a stink bug that lays them. I'm not sure of how it does it but it cauces zucchini, melons, cucumbers to wilt. In my experience, I had no luck reviving them

Wish I could help you but I am having the same problem. However, it is only one of my zucchini, the other is fine. It started this when we had so much rain and the one that is not affected yet, sits a little higher so I am thinking maybe it was not getting drowned like the other one was. Have you had a lot of rain?
