I have beige curtains on all the windows in my house. It has dark gray leaves and bright orange flowers printed on it. I want to paint the house and I would like to get some color ideas. I would like to paint each room in a different color. I have a great room, kitchen, dining room, computer/office room, master bedroom, kids bedroom, guest bedroom and 3 bathrooms. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

My home sounds exactly like yours! When I finish all my painting (I am 80% done), I will post pictures. We did our open living space (kitchen, family room, living room, dining room) orange, yellow & lime green through out, but each wall has one of those colors, with red accents (sconces, light fixtures, pillows, rugs, candles, pictures, curtains, etc).

It looks AMAZING! We even painted our once plain boring white kitchen cabinet doors the lime green & added new red pulls & knobs. I love it! ALL our furniture has chrome accents, which I think pulls it all together very nicely for a modern look. I will say, it probably isn't for the color shy~ for obvious reasons, but it fits my personality & style.

I want to paint each of my rooms a different color, but I'm afraid that it will look weird. My living room, dining room, and kitchen are all open spaces that aren't separated by walls or doors. Between the kitchen and dining room there's an arched entry, and between the dining and living rooms there are two arched entry ways. I was planning on a light green for the living room, and a light shade of blue for the kitchen, but I'm unsure of the dining room. Would it be weird to have such color changes in the different rooms?

when my husband and I first bought our house we paint with tan. And we liked it but we wanted something different. I watch HGTV and trading spaces and all the other shows I noticed they painted alot with choc. brown so we got brave and now every room is a different color and we get alot of WOW's when people come over. our living room /hallway is choc. with the ice bluesand white accents and our bathroom has bright red walls with Tan accents .Master bedroom /bath is a sagey ,olive green with burgandy accents, My husbands race room (man room) is a gray color& the spareroom is a blue the tar heels blue. We are redoing our kitchen from mint green to a brick red color to match the boldness of all the other colors.

Hi Angel, I think a black and white floor would look great; would you be putting in ceramic tile or those square vinyl tiles? I personally like the black and white floors so maybe that's why I think it would look good; it seems to have a fresh look to it. I have seen the black and white theme in modern homes and I even used it in an old farmhouse that I lived in. It really looks good with a bistro type theme; do you have any type of theme in your kitchen? Let us know what choices you made and maybe even post some pictures for us to see! Good luck to you! Paula

Hello, I just painted my kitchen using 3 shades of yellow, a bold golden on walls, a canary yellow on trim and a creamy yellow on accent wall. Do you think a black and white floor would go. Also the countertops and backsplash is white ceramic tile. thanks""""

Hello Jaya,

Your best bet would be to use a colour wheel. This way you can see what other colours would suit your curtains.
I have found this site for you:
http://www.paintquality.com.au/press/newspaper/wn2002_article2.htm

Print it out and it will give you ideas when going to buy the paint.

Colours are an individual choice, what works for one doesn't work for another. I have a lovely fairly vibrant green kitchen that would suit your curtains- but that's not to other's taste.
Because you want different colours for each room and your palette is somewhat limited because of the orange in your curtains, maybe try one colour for one room and then lighten that same colour to use in another room?
I did the same; i lightened the green paint from my kitchen and used that to paint my bathroom a much softer pale mint green.

Good luck, that's alot of rooms to decorate- i hope you get some help!

Best wishes
Monique x
