Having a large party with a travel theme. I thought of having each table labeled with different locations. I thought of making large blowup photos of the location, but I don't know what type of container to use. I thought of a vintage valise as a container, but its too expensive.

You could use a pineapple with small wooden skewers pushed into it and cut at different lingths and Vanda orchids on the ends. Add Sea Shells and smooth decor rocks These could be used as additional decorations along with artificial Leis . Happy Party. GG Vi

Just thought of something else, I would go to a couple of travel agencies and see if they would give or sell u cheap those big travel posters that they put in their windows and on their walls, instead of the expense of blowing up travel photos.

You could try adding a rope handle to a shoe or boot box and make tape hinges(duct tape comes in colors now!) Then decoupage on maps, used stamps and stickers themed for travel. If you want, add a glued on bead and loop of leather lace or twine to close it.

Try thrift shops for suitcases, trunks, posters, maps, hatboxes etc. And most countries, states and even counties have websites and free travel brochures that you can request and use as decor. Search for free clip art online to decorate old suitcases with. You could even visit your local travel agent for brochures, posters and other freebies. Have fun.

Rosie,
You can find scrapbooking stickers to make something look like a vintage valiese - and with paint and a one of those paper mache cardboard boxes you could make them -that way you could also customize the travel stickers to the destination.

Another idea would be globes - you can buy inflatable beach ball style globes in different styles from places like Oriental Trader or Rhode Island Novelties - if you cut rings out of toilet paper rolls, you can make a pedastal for those to sit on so they won't roll around the table. A "placemat" of a laminated map in the center with the globe on top and a fake "passport" would be fun. You could also put disposable cameras on the tables so people could "play tourist" and take pictures!

Have fun!
