Making Decorative Breads (Non-edible) |
|
|
I am looking for instructions on how to make decorative breads (non-edible) that had polyurethane on them. You arrange them in a basket. I received an arrangement as a gift several years ago and would like to try to make it.

Good tips, just what I was looking for. What kind of varnish or polyurathane do I buy? can I buy this at a hardware store or craft store. Thanks

I have made this many times, dry the bread in the oven on 150 degrees until dry and hard. Let them cool completly then spray with polyurathane.

Back in the seventies, I used to make these out of flour and salt dough (like the kids use in grade school for art projects) but honestly a much easier solution is to go to the bakery, pick out a selection of fancy breads, air dry them and then varnish them. They are beautiful!
