Can sweetened condensed milk be used in sweet potato pie instead of evaporated milk?

my little sister's recipe

Libby pumpkin pie mix
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 beaten eggs.
mix together and pour into unbaked pie shell
bake @ 400 15 mins.
350 45 mins.
makes a big pie and so yummy

Yes you can also it replaces the sugar in the recipe. I use this for pumpkin pie and really makes the pie not as sweet and taste more of the spices and pumpkin. Just try it and see which you prefer.

They are not the same, but I use it all the time. Simply cut out the sugar as well. Make sure you taste test, but I love the convenience.
