Wisc is a nice, mostly quiet calm area to raise your kids!! Extra great is you like cheese! haha! And very cold and snowy winters. The Dells is a great place to take your kids for a get away--but save money by beating the open season rush.

I am originally from Wisconsin and currently live in Minnesota. Although I have never lived in Oshkosh, I have been there a few times and think it is a beautiful little city. Population is about 45,000 and it is growing due to its proximity to Green Bay/Lake Winnebago.

The University of Wisconsin system is excellent. Oshkosh is home to the world famous Oshkosh Air Show. My sister lives in near by Appleton/Neenah (home of Kimberly Clark, her employer) A lot of natural beauty and shopping...what a combo!

I think Neenah or Oshkosh would be an excellent place to raise kids, and I assume the schools are good (as are many in the midwest) however I would research the web for actual numbers.

Down side: The weather. Minneapolis (where I now live) is on a similar latitude. Below zero wind chills and lots of snow are not uncommon from November through March...on the upside of that downside, cold weather seems to keep crime down!

Be aware, the packer fans in that part of Wisconsin are RABID...this might be a good thing or bad thing depending on your opinion of the Packers.

If I didn't want to move to the south (I hate winter) so bad, I would consider that area to settle. Ironically I have my eyes on the home of the last poster...North Carolina!

Hi, my best friend lives... well actually lived in Omro. She recently moved a little farther away (kind of in the country) only its not country scenery :). Any way if you want to e-mail me personally I could give you her phone number. She is a wonderful person and actually she grew up in Wisconsin. She was living near Bloomington, Il. when we met. Has since returned home and she loves it there. My e-mail address is g_mom1 AT hotmail.com If not ... good luck.

Hi-I live approx. 1/2 hr. south of Oshkosh & shop, etc. there at least once a week. It's a clean, quiet, safe little city. The schools are good. There are a few colleges close by. The weather is, well, what can I say? This *is* WI we're talking about here.

All in all, I give it 2 thumbs up! :o)

I live just west of Oshkosh and have for over 20 years. I love it here.Oshkosh has alot of good features and isn't too far from other areas with things to do also. Schools are good, shopping, restaurants, and other things are good too. Appleton is close and Milwaukee is only a little over an hour away. Contact me if you want some more info...would be happy to be your "Welcome Wagon Lady!" lol
