Becoming a Qualified Cheerleading Coach

Does anyone know the laws or qualifications in the state of Georgia for being a varsity cheerleading coach? How can you find out if your coaches are qualified for their position?

You can get information on cheerleading in Georgia from the GHSA at http://www.ghsa.net/cheerleading

Looks like they only "require" that their coaches are teachers across the board (football, basketball, soccer, cheer, etc.) and that they attend rules meetings.

But an administrator at the school really should also make sure the coach knows about cheer safety through courses like the AACCA (http://www.aacca.org) and NCSSE (http://www.spiritsafety.org). that way they know how to teach and spot correctly and have the right emergency plan in case something goes wrong. Some states require that their coaches also have First Aid and CPR training. I'm not sure if Georgia requires that or if they require an athletic trainer to be present, also.
