Here's one: 1 c white sugar 1 c brown sugar 1 c shortening 2 beaten eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2 c flour 2 c rolled oats 2 c rice krispies 1 c coconut 1 c chopped nuts
Gradually cream sugars into shortening. Stir in eggs & vanilla. Sift baking powder, salt and baking soda with the flour and add to creamed mixture. Add rolled oats, rice krispies, nuts and coconut. Mix well and drop by teaspoon onto baking sheet. Press flat. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
I have also made adjustments to this that worked well. My husband doesn't like coconut and nuts, and once I was out of oatmeal & the rice krispies, so for the last four items I substituted 6 cups of flake cereal mix (some corn flakes, and bran flakes) and that turned out well. Another time I had no oatmeal but everything else, and I increased the flour by 1/2 cup instead.
