This dessert also works well with pistachio pudding.

This one is called Next Best Thing to Robert Redford (sounds easy)

1c flour
1 c pecans, chopped
1 stick margarine
8 oz. cream cheese (soft)
1 c powdered sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip
6 oz. vanilla Jell-O pudding
6 oz. 6 ox. chocolate Jell-O pudding
3 c milk
1 Hershey bar, grated

Mix & spread first 3 items in a 9x13 inch pan & bake @350* for 15-20 mins. Next blend softened cream cheese & pdr. sugar and fold in 1/2 of the Cool Whip. Spread over cooled crust. Then combine vanilla & chocoate puddings together with milk; blend with mixer until firm. Spread pudding over the cream cheese & then spread remainder of Cool Whip on top. Grate the Hershey bar on top. Refgrigerate overnight.

Here is one I've had for many years, called
The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford

crust:
Mix and press into oblong pan:
1 cup flour
2 Tbs sugar
1 stick melted butter
Then sprinkle 1/2 cup chopped nuts over crust and press into dough. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees (burns easily), then cool
1st layer:
Mix and spread on crust:
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1/2 lb cool whip
Allow this to set up and proceed to layer 2
2nd layer:
Mix 1 box vanilla instant pudding with 2 cups milk. Spread this over cream cheese layer and allow to set up. Proceed to layer 3.
3rd layer:
Same as layer 2, using chocolate pudding, let set up. Then spread rest of cool whip on top and sprinkle shaved chocolate or coconut on top.

I think this recipe is also called "Pastor's Delight."

This looks like it may have been the ORIGINAL one by that name:

Sometimes a recipe NAME becomes popular and people attach that to their (totally different) recipe. Like the one for "Girdle Busters" which has a whole range of different recipes.

Here are some on google:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en& ... dford+cake%22+recipe&btnG=Search

If you have had the cake before and remember a few ingredients it would help to narrow it down more.

I had never heard of Robt Redford cake before. I just had to google him...I mean it.
