These are unbelievably easy, cheap and quick. Would make a wonderful gift.
Supplies:
buttons in matching pairs
bag of posts (I was able to get a bag of 12 at Jo-ann fabrics for $1.)
hot glue gun and glue
Directions:
Turn the button upside down and put a dab of hot glue on the back, swiftly press the post down into the dab of glue.
Note: you may want to hold the button when you are placing the post to the back of the button to avoid the glue going all the way through the holes and on to the table which makes the glue look messy on the front side of the button. If this does happen you can simply take a lighter to the front of the button to melt the glue back down, this only takes a second. Do not leave the flame on the button for too long or you could melt it (if it is plastic).
where did you get the posts for the earring i am trying to make some but i can't find the posts...can you email me back at mrbbeachbabe AT aol.com thanxs so much, Miranda""

Your great idea for button posts sparked in me a similar idea. Holiday (shank button) earrings!
1.'Dress It Up' holiday buttons-found at Joann Fabrics.Walmart also has holiday buttons from another company. Check to see if pkg contains 2 of buttons you like. About $2.00/pkg at Joanns.
2.'Button shank remover' also from Joanns. About $6.00
3. posts for earrings.
4. glue gun and glue stick.
Admittedly, these earrings are more expensive, however selling them could recoup the extra money spent. The shank remover makes a clean cut; no sharp edges to file off.
