My son's pet hamster loved to be in his hamster ball, but it was hard to open and close. It broke easily, was expensive, and was small enough to get lost under furniture. We had a big plastic barrel from pretzels. We punched holes in the cap and the bottom. It is easier to unscrew the top, put him in, screw the top back on so he run around the floor. He loves it.

What a terrific idea! I have some large round plastic biscotti jars I'll try this with. I have 5 adorable dwarf hammies!

What a neat idea. We have 2 little degus (Chilean
squirrels) who would love this, I think. We'll
have to try it for them...Thanks for the tip.
