Oh my,,, there are so many things that you can make to keep your bird happy. What kind of parrot? The size of the bird makes a difference. Does your bird like to shred paper? One thing I do here at the rescue is to drill a hole in the upper left corner of a phone book (ink is soy based and safe) and I hang it in the cage. Our Macaws and Greys LOVE to shred them. Makes a mess in the bottom of the cage which they love to forage through. You can also buy toy parts on ebay and string them on Paulie rope, which you can also purchase on ebay. A GREAT place to buy toy parts is www.Nalanitoys.com We get most of our supplies there. any wooden blocks etc., that are for children (dollar store) are non toxic and safe for birds. You can also use paper lunch bags and fill with toy parts from broken toys, little snacks (nuts, dried fruit etc.) and tie the opening closed with cotton rope. You can hang it in the cage or put it on the bottom as a foot toy. There are hundreds of ways to make toys, Birds see in color so a colorful toy will excite them. If you want more ideas, please feel free to email me @ GrammieCracker@aol.com Have fun. * You can also let your bird 'hang out' with you while you're making his toys. He'll be SO interested in what you're doing.
