Robin I love your recipes! Before I attempt this one, please clarify something for me.
"Mix sugar and cocoa in topping and sprinkle over cake. Pour 1 3/4 cup very hot water over all through a slotted spoon, slowly."
Do you mean mix the brown sugar and cocoa together AS the topping and sprinkle the mix over the cake batter? Then drizzle the hot water over the entire thing? Thanks!

I've had this recipe forever. The card is so splattered that I'll have to rewrite it if one more drop hits it. In a small bowl, combine baking mix, sugar and cocoa.

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Topping:
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. baking cocoa
1/2 cup boiling water
Ice cream or whipped cream, optional

In a small bowl, combine baking mix, sugar and cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla. Spoon into two greased 8 or 10 oz. custard cups.
For topping, combine the brown sugar and cocoa in a bowl. Stir in boiling water. Pour over batter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the cake layer comes out clean. Top with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Yield: 2 servings.
