Of course you can. Only chamois is leather & if not allowed to dry out often, will rot. As the person before said, micro fiber is good, but I use a square of one of those laundry bags for delicates, the kind with big holes. It's nylon & I've had it for years. It is still in one piece & works really well. I use the micro fiber as a dish cloth for wiping things off & cleaning my stove.

You can wash dishes with what ever you want, however, chamois cloth is better known as a product to remove water from car after washing without leaving streaks.
