Surprise 25th Birthday Ideas |
|
|
My husband's 25th birthday is next month and I would like to do something special for him. He has NEVER had a birthday party, even when he was a kid so I would like to give him a surprise birthday party.
My problem is that I have no idea what to do at the party. I would like to have some kind of activities to do. I do not want it to be childish or too old either.
Someone mentioned to me to have it at a restaurant but I would not know how to invite people and expect them to pay their own way (I could not pay for everyone). If anyone has any ideas, they would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks, Rachel from TN

My husband is turning 25 next month and I would defiantly love to plan him a surprise party. He is into video games a lot, so I would like to incorporate that into the planning. We have a rather small apartment, so fitting many people in here would be hard. He's a kid at heart, and he is known for that and his addiction to XBOX 360. Any suggestions?

What's wrong with having guests pay their own way? if the guests are friends of the birthday boy, then I don't think they would mind spending $20 on dinner. It is the least they can do. I have been to numerous birthday parties at restaurants and every guest is expected to pay for their own meal. I thought that was the normal thing to do. Only at children's birthday parties do they have everything paid for.

We just had my friends 25th and we called it, "I will survive 25" and we went to 25 different bars. Each place signed shirts we had made up - the back said, "At first I was afraid...". You could have 25 different "jobs" for him to complete before the night was over or 25 things for him to survive?
Good luck

My girlfriend just gave me a really great party. I really wanted to go to Vegas but could not afford it. So she brought it to me. She rented sumo suits and slot machines. She just went to Party America and they had lots of Vegas decor. It was a really great time.

I just had a surprise 25th birthday party for a friend. We did a murder mystery dinner. You can buy the game at a toy store or book store or try ebay even! Everything you need for the party is in the box - menu, scripts, costume ideas, clues etc.
Everyone dressed up and got into character, it was hilarious. the game went really well. i would do it again for sure and no one ever suspects a surprise murder mystery dinner!

Believe it or not, but I am doing the exact same thing, except I did throw a surprise party three years ago-and it was his first one-ever. I find that having an activity that he liked really pumped up the party and kept everyone occupied, because he can't speak to EVERYONE at once, but all came to see him! We had his at a bowling alley with a nice restaurant attached so those who came to eat could leave but those who wished to stay could bowl until whatever time they pleased. Restaurants are a great starting place and if you call ahead and let them know (a week at least) and they will oftentimes save a whole room for free, give a discount towards your entire purchase, or give the birthday boy a free meal! Good luck!

In situations like that, I always send an evite (go to www.evite.com) have people respond online, give them your contact information and let them know that there is a set price and that price includes their meal, drink and tip. Let the waiter know that any outside of that MUST be put on a separate check for the individual, not the group. and have people pay the set price when they sit down at the table, or arrange for them to pay a few days ahead, if you choose to include a group gift. Hope that helps!

When you turn 25 you are a quarter of a century old. Find a quarter dated 1982 (for a birthday this year) in good condition and frame it. 25 is a silver anniversary, so do everything in silver. Use paper products found at the the party store for anniversaries. Once, for a co-workers 25th, I took a picture of a quarter (printed off web) to the bakery at the grocery store and they made a cake with that as the decoration. You might even be able to get them to put the birthday recipients face on the quarter. For my 25th (many years ago), my parents gave me $2500. I am also looking for some fresh 25th birthday ideas for my niece, so if anyone knows of any other ideas, let me know.

to give your husband a best brthday present is to frstly give him lots of love...and m sure he wudnt mind if u dont invite people.. or maybe jst his two best friends would do the job...so you could actually get together with his best friends and plan on whats goin to be best for the party..wether to keep it indoor and informal..or wether to have it outdoor and make it formal... lyk let it be his day..and as u are decidin to make it a surprise then dont ask him on what he is goin to like for his brthday coz dat wil defntyl give him an idea that sth is comin up...so i think the best thing to do is do sth that he always have wantd to do or maybe he hasnt been able to do sth...that would surely break the ice...what else....well umm regardless of what you hope it does the job... and he has a marvalous time... enjoy...

My friend is turning 25 and having a really tough time with it. (I know, can you imagine?) Anyway, we decided to throw her a 21st birthday party. It will be funny and hopefully she remembers how ridiculous she was at 21 and appreciates being 25. Plus hopefully she will get some free shots at the bar! Haha!

I went to a great casino party. The host got a really good deal that included 3 dealers (Texas hold em, craps and blackjack), they set up and everything. It was really fun, at the end of the night the person with the most chips won a prize.

Hi there,
I only have 3 more days to plan something and all my ideas keep getting ruined. We just moved so our place isn't set up to have people over and he's not big into clubs. We live in Vancouver so maybe someone has some different ideas of what to do during the day and night? thanks!

Looking at these ideas I've decided to do a bowling party for my husband. I'm thinking i'll have everyone meet at my house then we'll take a limo to a bowling alley where they serve food and beer. Then we can take the limo back to my house and watch movies and we'll have more beer and drinks. Then people will just spend the night and we'll have breakfast in the morning. I don't know if i want to try and have it a surprise or tell my husband.

My husband turns 25 next august and Im already working to plan a Quarter of a Century party for him. Were just doing it in our own home and Im using a quarter theme the invitations will be round/quarter themed and easy table decorations will be a roll or quarters instead of confetti, etc. Im just going for the backyard barbeque with games such as cornhole, bocci ball, badmitton and a bonfire.

You should plan it at your home or a friend's home, depending on if you want it low-key or a little upscale you can order pizza and wings or whatever his favorite food is, even get a large quantity of say pasta and salad from a rest. if you want. For activities I suggest getting a few decks of cards and poker chips, also try a game like "Cranium" to entertain and adult crowd and it is really funny so laughs and smiles will be a part of the party. If the weather is nice you can bar-b-que and have friends brings side dishes.

when i threw a party last year for my hubby, I called our favorite sports bar and asked if I could come and set up a little early. we are into harleys so I got a cake decorated with a harley theme. (which I approved with the bar) then decorated a corner of the bar for the party with football and harley stuff. I got a friend of his to keep him occupied while I was "shopping" with our friends wife. We called the guys and invited them for a drink at the bar, by the time they came, all of our friends were there to greet him and dress him with lais one per person, a birthday boy sash (like a beauty queen) and a nerdy hat. by the end of the night, his buddies tied what was left of the balloons to him so everyone else knew he was "special". hehehe, got some great pictures of that night. :) Just think about what your guy enjoys the most in life and incorporate it into the party. If your married you should have some idea of what his interests are. ps, loved the hunting theme party.

For that December 25 baby ... here's a great idea for a birthday. On June 25 celebrate by giving the birthday boy half of his gift (ie, half a 6-pack of beer, half a pack of gum, half a glove, sandal or whatever). When the "big day" arrives, he will receive the other half of his gift. Have fun with this idea!

I am trying to throw my husband a 25th birthday party this weekend and found your note while looking up ideas for myself. My plan was to have his friend take him out fishing in the morning and then have his wife come over and help me put everything together. I am going to the dollar store to get all of the supplies they have a sports themed collection that I am going to do for him because he likes sports. I am going to do the balloons and crepe paper and all of that stuff with a banner that says happy 25th birthday. I only know 2 or 3 people that he used to hang out with in school and play football with so I am asking them to help me invite some more of his old friends over to our house along with our friends that we both know and both of our parents are going to be here. I am hoping that is works out good and he is happy. I don't know what we are going to eat yet but it will deffinetly be a BBQ and that sort of thing.

here's my idea...
go to his high school (or college) that he went to.. heck, middle or elementary is ok too, if you're near it.. if not any school will work. if you ask the principal or the pta there's usually a donation-for-rental of the cafeteria. they can let you use the kitchen etc to prepare hot dogs, spaghetti, whatever. or you can bring along frozen pizzas or salads or whatnot. this usually runs about 50 bucks to rent the place for a couple hours. we've done it several times in our area for anniversaries, etc.
also...because of the age (my hubby is 26) i know what it's like to not want to go too old or too kiddie. I've found the best parties for our age set are late evening bbqs/bonfires. beaches and parks are free to go to (check first if nights and fires are ok with your city/town) or find one of your friends that has a big back yard. seemingly guys that age just like romping around in the dark with their ol' buddies, lighting things on fire, and drinking beer. cooking red meat and eating plenty of sugary cake, and they're in heaven lol. prepare guests with an 'outdoor weather warning' and ask them to bring picnic foods (use the word picnic potluck and byob (bring your own beer) to save money. also ask them to bring blankets for seating. this time of year 6pm to 10pm is a good time frame.. plus they can still be home in time to go to bed to go to work. obviously if they stay later, no biggie... especially if you're at a park.. you can leave whenever without worrying about people crashing on your couch!
do be aware though, if drinking and late night are involved, make sure their are designated drivers.. no one likes to spend the day after their birthday watching their buddy on the news cuz he killed a family of four on the way home :(.
oh, and bring a big piece of poster board and sharpies for people to write nice things on!

I have a couple of Ideas for you. It just so happens we are planning a surprise birthday party for my mother-in-law for this next Saturday. So far she has no clue. My house is not big, but we are going to do it here anyway. I am doing the opposite of you and I am decorating to the hilt. When she walks thru the door she's going to be blown away. We are doing inexpenspencive foods as I can't afford alot. (Decorations won't cost alot with all the Dollar stores around) I am making a slow cooker full of sloppy joes, sweddish meatdalls to snack on chips, and a cake from Sam's club. It won't cost that much. One thing I am having everyone do is when they walk in the door before she gets her is write done one a pice of paper I will have provided 1 reason why she is special to them or a special memory they have of her. I will have a Dollar store scrap book set and during the after noon everyone can paste their comments in her Birhtday Memory Book. My Mother IN Law Is an Awsome Woman. I just want to give her a Day to show her how special she is.
As far as inviting people to resurants and asking them to pay their own way. This is common practice in our families. Here are some ways we do it is on the invitation 1) "We are going to _____ to celebrate______ on _____ at _____. It's Dutch Treat so grab your wallet and lets have some fun." 2) "Dutch Treat Duch Treat Dutch Treat, Lets go Eat. We want to get together to celebrate _________ at________ on ______. RSVP and let us know if you can come.
Well, perhaps one of thoses ideas will help. Good luck and no matter what have fun.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I still have no idea what I am going to do even though your ideas are great. I have a small house so having people over (more than 2) is not really possible. Also, I can't think of anything that he is really into. We bowl occasionally (once every 2 months or so) and go out to eat. That is really the extent of it. I think I would like to have it at a restaurant or the bowling alley but I am still stuck on how to ask people to pay their own way. Can anyone help me know that I have made it so picky! lol

If I were to have a surprise bday party for my DH, he wouldn't be happy. I'd like to suggest that you inform yours beforehand, 'cause he may be of a mind to do some work and finding the time to spend for the party may interfere with his schedule (am married to a workaholic).

If your husband is a hunter, decorate in colors of camoflage. Have your guests buy him different hunter's apparel (ex. gloves, hunter's orange cap, hunter's orange vest, hunting magazines, etc.). Or if your hubby is into the TN Titans ball team, you could use orange, on decorations, and on possible gifts.
You might see what a banquet hall at your local utility company rents out for, or at a local restaurant. Sometimes the utility company will require a "clean up deposit" and after the party, if you leave the banquet hall as clean as your found it, they'll return your deposit, otherwise they'll keep it if you leave it in a mess afterwards. Also, another place you might check into using their banquet hall is your local Moose or Elks Club Hall. We recently went to a banquet held at an Elks Club Hall, I'm not sure if they charge a fee for letting the people in charge of the party use the hall, but they did require that we let them prepare the meal and charge us all individually. Hope this helps you out on your ideas. I wish you the best on your husband's 1st birthday party ever!!

try a casino night! go to the dollar store and buy: dealer hats, fake poker chips and a few decks of cards. You can make certain people dealers and what not. Get on the internet and find the rules to some of the more popular games (Texas hold'em, black jack etc.) You could serve just finger foods so people can eat and play at the same time. Have prizes for the end of the night, like whoever has the most fake chips gets, like a batch of brownies, or a fast food gift certificate. I hope he has a most wonderful birthday regardless of what you choose!
