That's possible. But what kind of Basil are you growing?

Not all basil has dark green leaves. I have Italian Basil which is deep green. My Mexican Basil is much lighter in color and a different shape to the leaf.

Anything else in your garden suffering from over watering?

There is a multitude of basil. As long as you have good draining soil, they can't get too much. Maybe it is a lemon basil.

THey are lighter in color. There is a purple basil too. Each has their own flavors.

There are many types of basil. I grow mine inside on the kitchen windowledge. The instructions on the seed packet states that as these are Mediterranean plants only water when the compost dries out as they can become waterlogged. Maybe that,s what has happened to yours. Hope this helps.
