Sometimes you can actually get computers in thrift shops. There's one in an upscale city near us where you can get a whole setup for less than $100. I recommended it to a starving artist friend of mine.

You would be surprised - the computers we found are perfectly good fairly recent ones - loaded with Windows 95/98 - !! So if they go after a year or two - it's in the recycling bin & no great loss.

hey my dad sells used macs. For a titanium laptop with dvd player, they are only $499.00. and they run the newest systems. with a thrift computer it will be more expensive to find the parts and software(ebay). It is a good price if you just do it for email or printing pages.
