I built and installed a cheap cube style shoe shelf unit (3 x 2 1/2 feet) I placed it into my small front closet on the floor and designated everyone in the house a grid/row for their own shoes. Keeps the floors clear of clutter and a you can quickly grab your shoes in those those hectic mornings.

I would love to see a pic of that. I'm in the same situation. I need to work out the best solution for organising our shoes too.
