If a recipe calls for 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar. Spoon the brown sugar into a measuring cup and pack it full, then level off the top of the cup with a knife.

Brown sugar can be measured in a measuring cup. The trick is to use a spoon to pack it down (get all the air out). If you need one cup brown sugar you poor the sugar into your measuring cup, push it down with a spoon and then keep adding a little bit till it measures the cup. If you have too much sppon some out.
