I find it humorous because if you don't want to go home with a dog or your child wired you should keep an on eye on your child and not let it run loose in a store.
Plus letting a child run loose is a good way of the child to get kidnapped or hurt.
It is not the responsibility of the store or its employees to babysit for you, your child your responsibility.

I have a pin that says "all unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten". I wear it at work!
