Arranging Books on the Shelves

Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 169 Posts

upper shelves with books lying on their sideAs an old person with an arthritic neck I have dreamed up a better way to shelve some of my books. I place the ones whose titles can be read while the book is lying flat on the shelf in that position. I can stand there and read my titles without leaning to the side or craning my neck. I realize this won't be for everybody but maybe someone can use if.

Marty, this is an excellent idea, and I've been doing it myself with books, videos (I still have VHS tapes that I play), and CDs and DVDs, to an extent. I'm actually leaning toward putting the CDs and DVDs in binders with pockets, but for now, shelving them according to how the titles are printed works very well for me! Kudos to you for posting this idea here!

Yes. I have long since believed this is the best way to display anything you have to read. I even do it with boxed dinners or rice mixes if the words read like a book spine!! Great idea!!
