Bees Love Passion Flower

bee on passion flower

Photo Description
The beautiful passion flower is our Tennessee State Wildflower. We let it grow wild on our homestead in our garden to encourage the bees to come pollinate our plants. I harvest the leaves of the passion flower to make extract which helps promote restful sleep.

I also live in East Tennessee and in just a few will be 80. Growing up I saw these vines everywhere, wild. Older people referred to them as wild apricots, not sure why. I did try eating some of the seeds inside as a youngster but they were not very good. I guess, like so many other things, plant and animal, we are just leaving no room for anything wild to survive. The blooms on those vines are magnificent.
