Peroxide will work. Test a small area of colored fabric first. I have never had a problem with it bleaching colored clothes. Good luck. (12/16/2006)

Clear ammonia and water works well. I managed to remove a lot of blood from a brand new recliner chair a few years back with the solution. I would not use sudsy ammonia due to all the soapy residue. (01/01/2007)

Barkeepers Friend works great on whites and Zout which I got at the dollar store has taken out many old stains I could not get out with anything else, on colors. (10/07/2007)

My Dad ran commercial and hospital laundries, and this is what he told me. Soak the item in a solution of 1 cup ammonia to 1 gallon of luke warm water, not hot as it cooks the blood or very cold as it sets it.

Rinse thoroughly. You can re-treat if needed. Also try soaking in a white vinegar solution or use a baking soda paste after thoroughly rinsing the item after an ammonia soak. (01/30/2010)
