Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: 1 cake topper

Supplies:

Cake Topper - supplies

Steps:

  1. I printed each letter on a patterned glittery cardstock paper. Using a circle dot puncher, punch out each letter. Optional - if you do not have glittery cardstock paper and want to achieve the same look, you can use glitter glue around the circle and allow to dry. Or use loose glitter and glue, then allow to dry before proceeding to the next step.
  2. Cake Topper - print letters on cardstock, this one is a patterned glittery style

Cake Topper - child's name spelled out

  3. I went with a rainbow theme, so I used watercolors and went around the circle half way, followed by another color. Then overlap the same color but lighter.
  4. Cake Topper - paint part way around the circle with one color than change (we did rainbow)

Cake Topper - the next circle is done in a similar way but the first color is slightly lighter than the one on the right side of the previous circle

Cake Topper - continue in this way

  5. Continue this process until you finish your letters and like the outcome.
  6. Cake Topper - almost done

  7. Using needle and thread, thread the letters together.
  8. Cake Topper - using a needle and thread begin threading the letters together

    Cake Topper - second added

    Cake Topper -continue adding letters

Cake Topper - child's name completely threaded

Cake Topper - knot end of thread to a skewer and secure with tape

  9. Using wooden dowels (or skewers) create a knot and use tape to secure into place. Ready to place cake topper into your cake or cupcakes.
  10. Cake Topper - repeat at the other end
