Chocolate Themed Birthday Ideas

I've decided to have a chocolate themed birthday party. I'm going to have a chocolate fountain and different types of chocolates, truffles, and desserts. I'm decorating my lounge to look like a mini cafe and putting the movie "Chocolat" on in the background. I'm am looking for ideas for something else to do besides just eating. I would like something to fit with the theme and will take around an hour. Thanks.

Here's some ideas:

  1. What about teaching a little class on making chocolate roses?
  2. You could have everyone made chocolate scented bath salts.
  3. Try making cocoa-butter cosmetics like a cocoa-butter/herbal salve (you bake the healing herbs with the cocoa butter in a Pyrex pan for 1 hour at about 200-250 degrees F then stir when melted, strain, and pour into containers.
  4. Everybody could make an easy cocoa-butter body scrub. For the scrub, all you need is cocoa-butter, a quality oil (like olive or mineral) and either salt or sugar then process in a food processor and put the mix into nice containers with lids (available online).
  5. Lastly, you could give or hire someone to give each other cocoa-butter back or foot massages, total luxuriant.

Chocolate Themed Birthday Ideas

How about a game. Divide the party goers into 2 teams (same number of people on each team), have each team form a line. On a table place 2 paper plates with the same amount of malt balls that is on each team. No chairs, the players must stand. Each person has to eat one malt ball. Hand the first player in each line 2 oven mitts, then a knife and a fork. With the mitts on, they use the knife and fork to pick up a malt ball and eat it. No fair using their hands, mouth, etc. to pick up the malt ball, just the fork and knife.

After the first player is finished, she hands the mitts to the next person in line. That person is given a clean knife and fork. The first team to eat all of the malt balls is the winner. This is fun, not easy to do, and if someone stabs a malt ball with the fork, it will shatter, so be ready to replenish the shattered malt balls. (05/05/2009)

No Cook Fudge

  • 1 3 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cup powered sugar
  • 2 oz Nestle pre-melted Chocobake (Yellow box in the
baking aisle, it come with 8, 1 oz. pouches in a box.)

Put all ingredients in a gallon size Ziploc, get as much air out as possible and seal. Knead until
fudge. Turn out onto a plate or foil and then divide it up among the kids in each group.

Armpit fudge

(I haven't tried this recipe)

(single serve version)
  • 2 oz. powdered sugar (1/2 cup)
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp cream cheese
  • dash of vanilla essence
  • 2 tsp. cocoa

Place all ingredients in a sandwich-size plastic zipper-bag (Ziploc). Squeeze out all the air. Squish and moosh (under the arm) the bag until all the ingredients are well mixed and there is a creamy consistency.

Add any favourite flavours or other stuff (raisins, M and M's, peanut butter, chopped nuts, etc).
Take out a spoon and enjoy.

try the "Patrol-size" version:

  • 1 lb. powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 - 3 oz pkg. cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup cocoa

Mix ingredients in a one-gallon zipper bag. (05/08/2009)

How about a quiz about chocolate. Google or Wikkpedia for facts to use. Winner gets something that smells like chocolate, ie., lotion, bath salts, or body wash. Easy to make your own, get unscented and add chocolate extract from the cooking aisle or bulk food store. They even sell clear extract, so it will not color the product. Get cheap plastic containers to put them in. You could also do the game where everyone gets a tag placed on their back and can only find out what chocolate fact is written on it by asking questions of others at the party. (05/09/2009)
