Cleaning Painted Walls

My walls are staining, as the windows are not always kept open in the apartment. How do I clean up the walls which are painted with a water based paint and get rid of all the black marks on it?

Use a product called "TSP." It can be found in most hardware stores. Great for dirt and grease. It is a granule that you mix with water. (07/27/2006)

The black marks on your wall could be mold. Try using some bleach mixed with water in a spray bottle to kill the mold first and then repaint with paint used to kill mold. (07/30/2006)
