Cleaning a Sports Whistle?

Sports Whistle
Cleaning a whistle is relatively easy. Depending on the composition, you should be able to wash it in warm water and detergent. After that it can be soaked in a disinfectant such as Listerine and dried thoroughly. This is a page about cleaning a sports whistle.

Is it metal? I would suggest cleaning the surface as much as you can with paper towels and a cleaner; if it has a rubber tooth guard on it, you should just be able to pull that off. I would then soak it in Listerine cut in half with water for a half hour or so you could scrub it with an old toothbrush if it needs it. It shouldn't hurt the little ball inside. Then rinse thoroughly with fresh water, and set it someplace warm to hasten the drying, so you don't end up with rust. If it has the tooth guard, clean and soak it, then when everything is dry, you can put it back on.
