Simple and sophisticated, this bookmark is so easy to make and will make a nice addition if you are giving a book as a gift.

Total Time: 15 minutes

  • wide lace braid, about half an inch longer than you need your bookmark to be
  • narrow lace braid, long enough to tie a bow
  • 2 beads with large holes
  • scissors
  • white (PVA) glue

  1. Apply white glue to each end of the wide lace to prevent fraying. The glue will dry clear. While the glue is still wet, turn up a hem to neaten it off.

  3. Wrap the narrow lace around the wide lace near one end and tie a tight single knot.
  4. Then tie it into a bow.
  5. Pull it and tweak it to make it small and neat. If you have trouble making it lie flat, there are plenty of websites, including Thriftyfun, with instructions for making a perfect bow.
  6. Thread one of the beads onto one end of the narrow lace.
