Unless you are skilled with working with leather, I would leave them alone. Needles leave permanent holes, so you cannot make a mistake.

If you are adventurous you might visit a craft store and pick up some "gems".

• The craft stores have gems in all sizes, shapes and colors so you are not limited to one size or color.

• They also have leather glue so be sure you want to do this as you may not be able to remove them once "set".
• You could use a lot or just a few in strategic places (plan your design before you start).

What if you could get some buckles, maybe from second hand belts?

Removable adornments? Shoellery (clip on jewellery for shoes) is hugely fun for pumps and can certainly be adapted to boots. Check google images and let your imagination run wild!
