One Thanksgiving, a guest called me morning of to cancel. Guess who was bringing pumpkin pie? Thereafter I always have an extra pie, yam casserole, frozen veggies, etc. on hand

I will stock up on all sorts of items, just in case. One that has come in handy many years is a box of turkey gravy. This has been a life saver in the years where my (or someone else's) gravy just didn't turn out.

Busy planning my Thanksgiving dinner now. I'm always tempted to try new recipes but then there is a chance that they won't be as good as my old standards. I always serve turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, a veggie (green beans, Brussels sprouts and/or corn, and pumpkin pie. Everything else is optional.
