When I first married, everything had to be a complete set. I found it was impossible to keep up with drinking glasses, as they broke more frequently than I expected. I like clear glassware, and found that I could pick up glasses for as little as a dime at garage sales and thrift shops. They coordinate well on the table, and I have a steady supply if these break, too.
Thanks, Judy. Brings back a lot of memories. In my childhood home, the title would have been, 'Matching Jelly Glasses Is Unnecessary'. That's all we had to drink from. That's OK. The fresh raw milk from the country tasted just as good. Yes!
The older I get, the less I am influenced about what is "supposed" to be.
My favorite tall, clear glasses come from the dollar store. I probably buy about 4 new ones a year because they break.
I got beautiful crystal when I got married, only to have my husband complain that they didn't hold enough. I bought beer mugs with handles, and we've been using the same 4 for 42 years now for iced tea. I finally gave the crystal away.
I love what you said Judy, quote: The older I get, the less I am influenced about what is "supposed" to be.
I say "if it makes one happy, then that is what it's suppose to be". :)
