Thristystone coasters will virtually last forever but do occasionally need to be cleaned as the porous material will get clogged over time and use.

  • Occasionally these coasters will stain. Always try to catch a fresh beverage stain quickly and wash out with plain water.
  • For old or stubborn stain, wet the coaster, apply a few drops of mild detergent and lightly scrub with a sponge, brush, etc., rinse and air-dry. This will usually return the coasters to their original "thirsty" self.

  • After a lot of use the pores on the stone get clogged which stops their ability to absorb liquid. Even just sitting on tables and collecting dust will cause the pores to clog.
  • You can wash the coasters with warm water and a little dish detergent and gently scrub the surfaces. Then air-dry them overnight. This should bring the original condition back.

Dishwashing is not recommended as the extreme abrasion and heat of a dishwasher will cause the
natural cork backing to deteriorate.

After using the coasters for a long period of time they get clogged which diminishes and don't absorb.
