Here's some advise from someone who has lived in small towns all of my life until now. In small towns, everyone is related. Don't ever enter into gossip because you will be talking about someones cousin, brother in law, step mom, step sister or step brother.

Tip: Simple Homemade Glycerin Soap

It's easy to make soap bars with soap crafter's melt and pour glycerin soap base that you can purchase at almost any craft store. You can use items like clean dry yogurt cups, juice boxes, cream cheese containers, etc. as the molds.

Take a wallet inventory. Empty the contents of your wallet and photo copy it all. If your wallet is lost or stolen you have all the information in one place. Copy front and back of credit/debit cards.

Display Everyday Dishes as DecorWe live in a manufactured home without much cupboard space. My solution for organizing my dishes is to make them part of the decorations. Our round oak table takes up most of the dining room area so there is no room for a china cabinet.

Gargle With Vinegar Once An HourFor years, all I have used to cure a sore throat is to mix 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in a tepid glass of water, then gargle with it. Do this once an hour until the pain is gone. It doesn't take long.

Mom's Sore Throat RemedyMy mom would have us gargle with warm water to which a teaspoon of table salt was added. We would do this every couple of hours. Also, she would crush an aspirin in a little bit of water on a spoon, so we could swallow it.

Artist Brush Cleaning and UseI don't use my good oil painting brushes for acrylic. I keep them just for oils, which I clean in white spirit*. The sediment settles after a few days, and the clean spirit pours off carefully into another jar.

Honey For Sore ThroatThe other night my throat was so sore I couldn't swallow, couldn't sleep, and wanted to cry. Instead I took a teaspoon of honey and let it melt in my mouth, trickling slowly down my throat.

Hot Cocoa and Black Pepper For Sore ThroatsThe one sore throat remedy my family swears by is to drink 1 cup of hot cocoa with 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper sprinkled on top. Works great for us! You can repeat every two or three hours, if needed. Hope it helps.

Hydrogen Peroxide For Sore ThroatsGargle with one part hydrogen peroxide to 5 parts warm water, Do NOT swallow the hydrogen peroxide mixture, it may make you queasy. Then, follow up with gargling with 1 tsp. of salt to 8 oz. of warm water.

Oxi-Clean For StainsI have been playing with Oxi-Clean powder lately. I used it to clean a badly mildewed life jacket and it came out like new. On clothing, it will remove yellowing. I've tried it on walls, furniture, floors, etc.

Don't Try to Burn Poison OakI know what NOT to do. Don't try to burn it. I had a friend try this and she got very sick from inhaling the fumes. I suggest wearing disposable gloves so the oil isn't transferred to anything else.

Shampoo For Stain TreatmentI found this a few years ago and have been using it ever since. It works great and is inexpensive: Fill a water bottle with warm water and add about a quarter cup of inexpensive shampoo. Mix and keep in laundry room to pretreat stains before washing.

Soap For A Stuck ZipperI have found that the easiest way to make a zipper work smoothly is to rub a cake of soap along the zipper edges. That zipper with go up and down smoothly.

SOS Pads For Cleaning Baking PansI had some muffin pans that had rust in them and I cleaned them really good with an SOS pad. Then I washed thoroughly and dried them. From then on I made sure that they were dry before putting them away.

Use Ice Water for Cut FlowersKeep them in ice water, as much as you can. Store them in the refrigerator at night (in the winter, you can put them outside on the back porch). I have gotten cut flowers to last 2 weeks this way.

Use Pam For A Stuck ZipperCarefully spray the zipper with Pam being careful not to get it on any material of the garment. I tape a strip of Saran Wrap beside the zipper prior to using the Pam.
