Growing Root Crops on the New Jersey Coast?

Actually I'm not sure if I'm in zone 7a or 7b. I live along the coast in Wildwood, NJ. I have terrific luck with grape tomato plants and other sun loving plants. Of course the soil is very sandy. I wanted to try carrots, radishes, and other root plants this season. I would appreciate any help. Also, how soon can I plant?

Contact your local county extension office. They may also have a website. Most extension offices provide all that information for free. Your local nurseries should be able to tell you also.
