Have Kids Make A Summer Fun List

At the end of every school year, I have the kids make a "Summer Fun List." I make one too. At the end of the summer, we see what we accomplished.

This list sounds like a lot of fun, but also expensive. How about reading a book, painting a picture, writing a story, play store and teach them to count and make change. Do things that keep them thinking. Put on a hand puppet show and let them make the puppets. Do some simple yard work. Planting veggies and flowers. They will love it when it is time to harvest. This teaches them good skills.

Have a play house day and teach them to clean. Be sure to accept the way they do it if they are small. Making them do it over if they are too small will discourage them. Tell them how great they did. Let them show dad when he gets home. Let them help with a special dinner for dad or a birthday surprise dinner. Doesn't have to be anything big, just something they can do. How about Vacation Bible School. Usually a couple of weeks in the summer and most churches have them. These are all inexpensive and fun things to do and teach them as well.
