Wackier Than Wacky Cake

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
• 3 Tbsp. cocoa, not instant kind
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. cider vinegar

• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 5 Tbsp. salad oil
• 1 cup canned applesauce

Instructions

Sift first 5 ingredients into greased 8 inch square pan. Make 3 depressions in dry ingredients. Pour vinegar into one; vanilla into second and oil in third. Spoon applesauce over all. Mix well until smooth.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes. When cool, cut into squares and top with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
