Get Rid of Pests in Fall Arrangements

Bronze Tip Medal for All Time! 64 Tips

If you wish to use pine cones, seed pods, and the like in your fall arrangements, spread them on a foil covered cookie sheet and put them in the oven to about at hour at 200 degrees F. That will kill any critters that might be hiding inside. The last thing you want is a few critters to come out to join you for Thanksgiving dinner!

Use a very low setting in your oven, pine cones are highly flammable. The critters might be better guests than the fire department.

I would recommend enclosing the pine cones, etc in the aluminum foil. Close it up tight so the critters can't get out and hide in the many crevices inside an oven, only to show up again embedded in a pumpkin pie or casserole!
