- 1 large bar baking chocolate (such as Baker's semi-sweet chocolate, about 7 oz.)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla or other flavoring, if desired
- 6 eggs, separated
- 12 heaping Tbsp. sugar (2 for each egg)
Melt together the chocolate and butter; cook slightly and add the desired flavoring. Meanwhile, make a meringue by beating 6 egg whites and sugar together until stiff. Beat egg yolks separately and add them to the melted chocolate mixture. Fold the chocolate into the meringue. Chill, either in serving bowl or in individual dessert dishes.
