Chow Mein

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 cup water
  • Advertisement

  • 4 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 can bean sprouts

Directions:

Brown hamburger and onions in skillet. Mix all ingredients together and place in large casserole. Bake in 400 degree F. oven for 1 hour. Then top with chow mein noodles and bake an additional 1/2 hour.

Heat leftover gravy and roast together. Add celery, seasonings and 3/4 cup water. Cook 5 minutes. Add drained bean sprouts. Heat to a boil. Blend 1/3 cup cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar.

Does anyone have a easy recipe for homemade chicken or beef chow mein? I remember 35 years ago, I would make this for my husband. I have lost it now.
