I remember as a child my mama made a toy for my sister's eldest. He was born when I was in second grade. I was a late child who became an aunt early. She took new white shoestrings and strung them through the spools to make a little man. One spool for the head, two each for the arms, three for the tummy and three each for the legs.
You can also use them for drawer pulls in a craft room. Attache them to a board for hang up space for purses, etc.
