Using Wooden Spoons

October 14, 2004

A collection of wooden spoons. The most useful spoons in the kitchen are a set of long handled wooden ones. They come in 4 or more bowl sizes and are much better than metal for all kinds of stirring and mixing where a whisk will not do. They work well in pots on the stove and thick cake batters. They have innumerable uses. And don't ever, ever leave wooden spoons soaking in water and/or in the dishwasher as this will discolor the wood.

Happy stirring.

At last someone who loves wooden spoons as much as I do. It's the first thing I look for at garage sales.

Joesgirl, You are so right. My wooden spoons are perfect for so many things. The handles are good for punching holes in cake to fill with icing, sweet jello liquid or chocolate.

I use mine continuously and wouldn't give them up.
