My husband installed a brand new fan in our powder room. He used the exact same model as the old one that quit working. The new fan is so loud that it hurts my ears. Is this a defective fan or is there some easy way to make it softer sounding?

Possibly something is vibrating that wasn't vibrating before, like the vent cover?
