Fixing a Toaster?

I accidentally poured water into the toaster. At startup, the machine does not work. Is there a way to fix it?

Open it up and let it dry for several days. If it doesn't work after that, for safety reasons, get another one at the thrift shop for under $10.

I wouldn't. The parts would probably be more than buying a new one at Walmart for $8.

If it got wet I would open it up and dry it very well for a week.

How accidentally? A lot of water like submerged the toaster or just a little?

Should flip the toaster over and try to clean the water out and hopefully it'll work again..

For cell phones dropped in water people swear opening up and burying in rice for a few days works, even if it's 48 hours later. others say vacuum all the openings VERY well instead or before the rice.

if it's an expensive toaster i would vacuum and then pour rice in the holes. I am assuming it wasn't in use when you did this, if it was it is fried.

If it was in use then just throw it away. If you thought you could clean it by rinsing it in water - well - you might be able to save it but I really wander if it is worth it? I do know they make toasters in all price ranges but hopefully this is not one of the expensive ones.
The only suggestion that might work would be to lay it in several different positions for several days and see if it works. Otherwise - give it up and buy a new one that may be easier to clean.

If it's an older type, allowing it to dry completely might work. But then, if water was keeping it from working, I'm surprised it didn't short out when you did the 'startup' thingy. If it has any electronic (digital) components, I think it should be thrown in the recycle bin.

About this 'accident', did you discover what you were doing after you poured in a teaspoon or a whole kettle full? 'Spilled' would sound accidental. 'Poured' sounds intentional. Was it that ugly aqua SMEG toaster your mother-in-law gave you?

I like likekinds answer and some of it is probably true.
Toasters, coffee makers and crock pots seem to be very inexpensive these days.
